Many in the industry believe that deep purple strains lack complex and rich terpene profiles. Conscious Genetics sought to change that narrative, and their research led them to the work of Annunaki Genetics, a U.S.-based breeder specializing in rare purple genetics. After extensive pheno hunting from Annunaki’s stock, they identified two standout strains that would serve as the backbone of their breeding program: Huckleberry Soda F2 and Pink Lemonade V2.

Refining the Craft

To further perfect their genetics, Conscious Genetics conducted a meticulous pheno hunt, selecting a male from Huckleberry Soda F2. This male was used to pollinate their favorite cuts, which included elite selections from Lady Sativa Genetics and DNA Genetics. They continued their breeding program by reversing Conscious Kush V1 and crossing it with their top selections—including the purple Pink Lemonade V2 pheno—resulting in the Conscious Kush V1 Reversal Line.

From there, the team focused on backcrossing (bx1s and bx2s) to stabilize and refine their genetics further. Their work didn’t stop there; they received a Sour Apple Runtz cut from a close friend—one of the frostiest plants they had ever seen, testing at a whopping 30% THC. This exceptional cut was reversed and crossed with the best keeper cuts from Conscious Kush V1, leading to the Sour Apple Runtz Line—a standout for extractors due to its exceptional extraction yields.

Pushing the Limits of Purple Genetics

Conscious Genetics' relentless pursuit of excellence has led to groundbreaking work in feminized purple hybrids. Their goal has always been to enhance the terpene profile of purple strains while refining key traits such as bud structure, resin production, and potency. One of their recent successes comes from the Pink Champagne Bx1 Reversal Line, where a rare pheno was identified—offering deep purple coloration, dense resin-coated buds, and vigorous growth. Though it initially lacked in terpenes, Conscious Genetics skillfully reversed and crossed it with their top selections, creating terpene-rich, frosty varieties that have since gained critical acclaim.
